Hasta hace bien poco el caballo ha sido el animal más apreciado para la economía de una familia de vida rural. Era el animal de tiro para los arados, carros y la forma más rápida para desplazarse. Tanto era así que los delitos por robos de caballos, los llamados cuatreros, eran de los más graves en los códigos penales en casi todo el mundo.
Until recently, the horse was the most valuable animal for the economy of a rural family. It was the draught animal for ploughs, carts and the fastest way to get around. So much so that crimes of horse theft, the so-called "cuatreros", were among the most serious crimes in criminal codes almost everywhere in the world.
Andalucía ha sido la parte de España más abandonada por ser el último terreno reconquistado a los árabes y por lo tanto salvaje y sin caminos.
