It is said that 37 million of these coins were minted and of the 11.5 million were made in the cupronickel version. I found this lovely coin in a weekend pawn market along with a few other European sports medals. It was not so expensive to buy but had a little bargain with the shop owner, and I managed to seal the deal at a very reasonable price, so it just cost me around $2. The coin does not have a denomination mark on it, but some sources on the internet value it as a 25-pence coin. The coin still shines like it was minted moments ago. ### Front of the Coin - Queen Elizabeth II is shown sitting on the horseback holding the reins and the horse is seemingly in a stepping-pace position. - The text on the coin reads "Elizabeth II DG REG FD 1977". DG REG FD is the acronym for "Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensor". - The coin feels heavy when held on the palm and is much bigger than modern coins. ### Back of the Coin - Reverse of the coin gives a very simplistic view of the coin, which makes it very graceful in appearance. - The circle in the middle is surrounded by foliage and floral decoration. - The imperial state royal crown between the foliage is surmounted on the circle. - The circle holds a royal bird (maybe a swan) standing upon the ampulla, and below that there is a silver anointing spoon.
