After our stop at Cape Bojerador Lighthouse, our travel van head for our next stop. It was a 15-20 minutes ride from there. It was already very hot because it was already approaching 12:00 PM, but our tour guide told us that we still needed to stop by at Kapurpurawan White Formation before we would have our lunch. But before I talk about it, allow me to share my happiness and excitement going there seeing the windmills.

The Windmills

While on the road, I was already getting very excited to get out of the van because I already saw windmills. I could not help myself to take pictures of them while inside the van. The tour guide told us that we would see more of them (windmills) after our lunch. He was referring to those which are more instagrammable and more commercialized, but still I was happy I took photos of them in this perpective (inside the van).

I could compare myself to a small little boy unwrapping his favorite toy from the box. I was very happy when the van finally made a stop and parked. Although it was excrucriatingly hot, I did not mind at all because I got myself out immediately to be mesmerized by the view of the mountains and its beautiful accessory - The Windmills. I somehow forgot the main destination or our main purpose why we went here.

The van was parked away from the entrance because the place were already packed of cars and other tour vans. So, we still had to walk for 3 minutes to get to the entrance.

The two photos above did not intend to take photos of our tour van because it was purposely taken to shoot the windmills. I just cannot get over with them. Finally, the pictures I saw from the elementary books were already real! I don't know if you understand that feeling of satisfaction and kilig inside.

The Entrance Tunnel

In the entrance we were welcomed by this tunnel they created. It made me happy because it provided a littleshade for us. At first I thought, this tunnel was stretched up to the rock formations, but I was wrong because it stopped before the shops selling souvenirs. It would have been better if they they had created this tunnel up to the rock formation so that the walk going there would be more pleasurable to both local and foreign tourists. It would somehow minimize the heat coming from the sun, without destroying the beauty of the place because this tunnel is made up of vines and twigs only.

The 3km Walk

Everybody who wants to see the beauty of Kapurpurawan up close has to walk from the main highway for about three kilometers. That is really a long walk so the best time to visit Kapurpurawan is early in the morning to avoid the intense heat from ten o’clock in the morning until two o’clock in the afternoon. You should also apply a great amount of sunblock or sunscreen to avoid getting grilled of the sun. It is also a must to bring a bottle of water because it would be a long long walk plus the heat of the sun.

We started walking going to the rock formation and the view was also getting more exciting. I stopped walking from time to time to take pictures even if I could not really see the screen of my camera because of too much glare. Grace would also scold me, she did not want to stop because it was very hot already.

We were actually offered to ride a horse going there for only a 100PHP or 2USD, but we did not avail it because we want to experience the place more. I could not get this photos also if we did ride the horse. So, while we were walking, we also see people from a distance riding horses. And yes, the people going there by foot has a separate path or track to those people riding the horse.

The scenic view becomes more vivid as we go closer to the rock. I would pause for a while to take pictures of the view. Every angle seems like a postcard picture. Indeed, it was one of the most beautiful panoramic views I have seen in my entire life.

Grace and I took the back route because we were told that the view there is nicer than the front. Grace was already complaining because of the heat, but I told her that I would still go further to see what really was there and she could just wait or just go together with France and Ann who were taking the front route. She was so supportive in me that she continued to walk with me.In my mind, after my tour at the back, I would also check the front so that I would not miss anything.

And they were right! The view at the back was really beautiful. The rock was really white. So, if you would visit here and you want to be recognized in a picture, never wear a white shirt and pants. I suggest you wear colorful clothes. Look at the pictures below, Grace was wearing her white shoes but you cannot see that she was wearing one unless you intentionally look at them.

Some tourist would go much further but Grace and I decided to stay at this point. I did not know how they made that far or maybe they can by gaving the front route. So, I told myself that time that I would take that route also.

Meanwhile, Grace and I enjoyed taking pictures.

I really did not expect our photos to like as beautiful as this because we can hardly see the screen of our camera or cellphone. We just continued to click the shutter even if we thought that maybe the shots were too exposed or too bright.

For me, the picture above was my most beautiful shot of the Kapurpurawan White Rock Formation. This geological beauty is the reason why we walked for three kilometers from the highway despite the intensely painful heat. But, the amazement of the rock formation and the great view of the sea, the mountains, and the windmills, paid off all of those little sacrifices we made.

After maybe five minutes, Grace decided to look for a shade where she could hide herself from the sun. I told her that we could look for France and Ann and maybe get into the van to sit and relax. I also decided to cancel my plans of taking the front route because my satisfaction was already fulfilled. That time, it was my turn to give support to my spouse.

We went back to our ways. We did not look for France and Ann, we just thought that we would all meet again in the van. When we reached the hall, I took more photographs of this gem in Ilocos. I did not expect so much about this because I did not know that this existed. But, I was really wowed by it.

Lunch Time

When we were complete inside the van, we headed to a restaurant where we would have our lunch. It was already past twelve so everyone was very hungry. I too was hungry, but I did not mind my stomach because I was enjoying the view. This part of Ilocos has many windmills so you would really see them while on the roads.

At this time I really felt very lucky to be seated beside our driver because I could see clearly the view of the road. This travel was not just going to different destinations, because I was also having a the most joyful ride.
