THE FIRST EVER LONGCI LIGHT FESTIVAL IN TAINAN, TAIWAN! | “The most beautiful outdoor light festival nationwide.”

LONGCI LIGHT FESTIVAL

I attended the first Longci Light Festival in [//]:# (!pinmapple 23.001139 lat 120.211172 long d3scr) Tainan, Taiwan last February 2020. It was in a small mountain town called Longci and the festival lasted for 2 months. This was done by the Tainan government to attract visitors and tourists to the town and improve the economy by helping the small business owners in that town.

A lot of visitors gave positive feedbacks about the art and tagged it as “the most beautiful outdoor light festival nationwide.” I, too, loved the concept! I had fun going around, taking pictures and looking at how they made the pieces. Based on my research, the artists used aluminum wiring and fluorescent lights.

Going there I remember we rode the car til we reached the bottom of the mountain then rode a bus which was just a quick ride up the mountain. I am not so familiar of how to get there but I am pretty sure it's easy to find the place and ask around when you travel to Tainan since it had a big impact on it's launch.

As you can see in our pictures, we were already wearing our masks. It was the beginning of the pandemic but a lot of people still went to that festival. Kids especially had fun looking at the shapes of different insects and flowers. That was mainly the theme, it was all about nature.

Here's a map of the whole area.

It had 7 artworks. I was only able to take few pictures because I was focused on taking care of my niece. 🤣 Here are the 7 artworks named:

  1. The bridge of flowing light

Pretty isn't it?! As I was researching about this event, I saw that they did it again last December 2020 til February 2021. On the first festival, it was still free for the public but on the 2nd time early this year, people need to buy tickets around 50NTD (2 USD) which was still affordable. They also expanded and displayed 14 artworks already!! There are also souvenir shops and restaurants there.

I think it is also a good thing to sell tickets and put a certain limit in the capacity of visitors so that everyone can enjoy the experience.

Here's my brother and his daughter. I think it was him who discovered these. He likes to go to different events, activities and adventures and bring his daughter around.
