A visit to the Hunting Lodge Granitz

Hello lovely Hivians and Traveler

Today we went to the Hunting Lodge in Granitz. A very beautiful building which unfortunately had already burned down and was painstakingly rebuilt. We decided to use the electric sightseeing train to the Lodge. It looked like a train but wasn't. We started in Binz and drove to more stations along the way and then the last part of the way led through the forest up the mountain. The route was quite bumpy and it was a lot of shaking.

Once at the top we had to walk a few more steps but we decided to rest there for drinks and coffee. You could watch your children playing from where you sit.

My in-laws only wanted to look at the 2 floors of the tour in the lodge but we wanted to be up on the tower in the middle and enjoy the view too.

Photos without flashlight were allowed and my wife had order to make photos as usual.

Now the fun part started with walking up all the stairs. 😅 The in-laws already went out and were waiting for us there.

Outside on the tower we got our reward. You could not look that far but it was still nice.

After a while we walked down again and had to take our train back to Binz.

Binz

We walked a bit around Binz and were also looking for a nice place to eat.

We also went to the pier and the beach.

Food

Thanks to google and reviews of the people I found a restaurant just a few meters away. We wanted to eat fish and a restaurant called Plattdüütsch was perfect.

I was glad that my in-laws could not eat the whole portion and I could taste everything, and I can tell you, the cook knows his stuff. It was cooked so well and was very delicious.

My dish was called sky, earth and water. I know sky and earth from my hometown which is potatoes, apples and fried blood sausage. Not a dish for everyone but I like it from time to time. Here there was no blood sausage but fish instead, mashed potatoes with beetroot, fried apples and there was an apple cream. It was perfect!

My wife got fried fish with a pearl barley and lentil risotto and also the apple cream. Very yummy.

My mother in law had fish with a herb crust, mashed potatoes and mustard sauce. She got also a cucumber salad with it.

My father in law had a schnitzel with fries and also a cucumber salad. My wife took no photo of this. The schnitzel was made with panko flour and had the perfect crust.
