Ruskeala waterfalls

Hello, my friends.

Karelia is stone and water, mountains and waterfalls. Friends, if you ever decide to visit Karelia, then you should definitely visit Ruskeala. There you should visit the marble quarry and, of course, walk in the park "Ruskeala waterfalls". You will not be able to drive past this place, they are located on the highway near the village of Ruskeala.

Ruskeala waterfalls is a kind of cascade of four waterfalls on the Tohmajoki River. The height of each waterfall is about 3-4 meters. This place is very popular among tourists who like to walk along special wooden paths and on suspension bridges over waterfalls.

Along the shore, or rather on the rocks at the largest waterfall, there are a lot of people with smartphones. The girls try to sit as close to the water as possible and take interesting selfies. Yes, it is girls. They really like to take such photos, so that they can post them on Instagram.
You have to wait a long time to seize the moment when you can take a photo without strangers on the background of falling water..

This place is still known among former Soviet citizens by the fact that some shots of the film "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" 1972, was shot against the background of this waterfall. This is a film about a small episode of the Great Patriotic War. 5 girls under the command of an old warrior were able to destroy a large fascist squad of scouts.
My son loves this movie very much.

Karelia is a place where people are very fond of wooden figures and sculptures. I grew up in the forest region, but I have never seen such an abundance and variety of wooden sculptures in our area. So on these waterfalls, you can meet interesting funny figures made of wood at every step. These are, for example, different beetles, bugs, and even fairy-tale heroes from Russian fairy tales.

This fly shows you the way to the cash register. By the way, the entrance to the territory of this park is paid. What is the price? It seems 400 rubles, which is less than $6 at the current exchange rate.

This trio will play you, friends, any music. Where else can you see such a small orchestra? I have never met anywhere before, only on the bank of the Tohmajoki River. And, by the way, these are not the only wooden musicians on these waterfalls. You can sit on a bench with a cheerful old lady who will play the balalaika for you.

Guys without musical instruments are alive! They are not wooden.

I looked at this pool with the eyes of a fisherman. I know there must be fish here! But is it possible to fish here? There are no forbidding signs anywhere. Maybe there is a similar forbidding entry somewhere on the stand. I would like to go fishing in this or a similar place.

There is a brisk trade in local food products in front of the entrance to the park. Here you can buy various sweets, berries, jams, medicinal herbs, and many other goods that should remind you of this place.
We also bought ourselves some sweets after our walk in the park. Especially we and the children liked the little chocolate pine cones. It's such an original taste - chocolate and pine. And I also really liked the taste of honey, there was a pine cone inside the jar of honey. Very spicy taste.

So, perhaps, it's time to finish our walk through this interesting place. All good things come to an end. And our company still had fishing to do. When you go on such trips, you have to somehow allocate your time to visit local attractions and go fishing.
