A few days ago, we went to an art opening in the gallery of a luxury hotel that has just opened after years of renovation.
It was originally the building of the police headquarters. I don't know the exact duration, but the reconstruction really took a long time. Personally, I've never seen the building as anything other than overrun with workers ^^
I'm not a connoisseur of these places - no, I don't spend my life in luxurious hotels, at least not yet, haha - and moreover, my anti-capitalist and anarchist impulses push me to be "suspicious" (and again, that's a weak word...) of anything that wants to show off. My style is rather old buildings made of good stones and still standing solidly on their foundations 300 years after their construction :) The name of the hotel is not really to my taste "SoParis" it sounds a bit too much "So Blabla"... but I guess we can't like everything !
On the other hand, we have to admit that from the decoration point of view, from what we could see, everything was luxurious, well made and aesthetically contemporary. Unfortunately, we could not visit the rooms or many other parts of the hotel...

In the gallery, there were several artists on display. Among them, I only remember the name of Thomas Fougeirol, an artist whose work I particularly like. He presented monograms, prints of plants in relief, really beautiful and contemplative as I like!
I also liked the work of the other artists, especially the marble cuts! If you're interested, don't hesitate to ask me, I'll do the appropriate research to share the names of the other artists with you :)
Fortunately, in addition to the gallery - which was our main visit - we were able to go for a walk on the roof, and that: it was really worth it! I don't think I'm wrong, but there are no buildings that high in this area of Paris (near Bastille). Then in the city, there is of course the Eiffel tower, the Montparnasse tower and the Montmartre hill, but in this place it's rare to have a view like that.
You have the Seine and the two islands - St. Louis and the Ile de la Cité - in a row, as well as an unobstructed view of the Left Bank, La Défense and of course the north of the city and Montmartre.
But as much as the view, it's the mirror ceiling and the doubling that goes with it, and thus that "Inception" effect. You probably remember the scenes at the beginning of the film with the Architect of the Dream :) which were themselves quite well done...
I don't know if it will be possible to visit the roof only in the future, but as there was a restaurant on that floor, it will probably be possible to just go and have a drink and also enjoy the view !

Il y a quelques jours, nous sommes allés à un vernissage dans la galerie d’un hôtel de luxe qui vient tout juste d’ouvrir après des années de travaux.
À l’origine, c’était le bâtiment de la préfecture de police. Je ne connais pas la durée précise, mais la rénovation a vraiment pris longtemps. Personnellement, je n’avais jamais vu le bâtiment autrement qu’envahi d’ouvriers ^^
Je ne suis pas un fin connaisseur de ces endroits - non, je ne passe pas ma vie dans des hôtels luxueux, du moins, pas encore, haha - et de plus, mes élans anticapitalistes et anarchistes me poussent à me « méfier » (et encore le mot est faible...) de tout ce qui veux en mettre plein la vue. Mon style, c’est plutôt les vielles bâtisses en bonnes pierres et qui tiennent encore solidement sur leurs fondations 300 ans après leur construction :) Le nom de l’hôtel n’est pas vraiment de mon goût « SoParis » ça fait un peu trop « So Blabla »… mais bon j’imagine que tout ne peut pas nous plaire !
En revanche, il faut reconnaître que du point de vue décoration, de ce que nous avons pu en voir, tout était luxueux, de bonne facture et esthétiquement contemporain. Malheureusement, nous n’avons pas pu visiter les chambres ni beaucoup d’autres parties de l’hôtel...

Dans la galerie, il y avait plusieurs artistes exposés. Parmi eux, je ne me rappelle que de Thomas Fougeirol, un artiste dont j’aime particulièrement le travail. Celui-ci présentait des monogrammes, des impressions de plantes en relief, vraiment très beau et contemplatif comme j’aime !
Le travail des autres artistes m’a aussi plût, surtout les découpes de marbre ! Si cela vous intéresse, n’hésitez pas à me demander, je ferais les recherches adéquates pour vous partager les noms des différents autres créateurs :)
Heureusement, en plus de la galerie - qui était notre visite principale - nous avons pu aller faire un tour sur le toit, et ça : ça valait vraiment le détour ! Je ne pense pas me tromper, mais il n’y a pas de bâtiments aussi hauts dans ce quartier de Paris (proche Bastille). Après dans la ville, il y a bien sûr la tour Eiffel, celle de Montparnasse et la butte de Montmartre, mais à cet endroit c’est rare d’avoir un point de vue comme cela.
On a la Seine et les deux îles - St. Louis et celle de la Cité - en enfilade, ainsi qu’une vue dégagée sur la rive Gauche, la Défense et bien sûr le nord de la ville et Montmartre.
Mais autant que la vue, c’est le plafond de miroir et le dédoublement qui va avec, et donc cet effet « Inception ». Vous vous rappelez sans doute des scènes du début du film avec l’Architecte du Rêve :) qui elles mêmes étaient assez bien réalisées…
J’ignore s’il sera possible de visiter le toit uniquement à l’avenir, mais comme il y avait un restaurant à cet étage-là, ce sera sans doute possible d’aller seulement voir un verre et aussi profiter de la vue !
