Life in Jomtien Beach , Thailand.

After arriving back in Thailand about 2 months ago completing my 14 days of quarantine i relocated myself from the big city of Bangkok to Jomtien Beach, Pattaya City which is, 2 hours south of Bangkok city it was going to be a whole new change for me leaving a big city like Bangkok that i was familiar with to a much smaller city that, i had only visited a couple of times before in my visits to Thailand in the past.

Just to let you know it wasn't my idea to move to Pattaya city, Jomtien beach the advertising company, i was working for decided it was much more convenient and cheaper to open up shop in Jomtien beach which actually, i didn't mind either as the cash flow had also dropped for me also during this pandemic very limited work but things were about to turn around for me and besides the beach life is for me.

Of course now, i had the dilemma of having to find the right area to live in weather it be more inland from the beach or closer to the beach, i decided closer to the beach because at the moment without any tourist here the rentals of apartments by the beach front have plummeted which made the choice living by the beach much easier.

Pattaya city is quite a spread out city but if you decided to live closer to Jomtien Beach Road in Jomtien you will have access to many grocery shops, local markets, restaurants, 7/11 in nearly every corner and the beach which is very convenient if you don't want to own a motorbike or drive a car which are just a added expense when public transport is so frequent and cheap there are what they call the "Baht Buses" you can jump on these and go from one end of town to the other for 10 baht which is 35c US.

I think Jomtien Beach Road can be describe like Miami Beach a long stretch of white sand beach with lots of palm trees, blue crystal waters but maybe not as many high rises towers so this the area my friend had suggested to me if, i wanted to be in walking distance to shops and the beach. Their were practically 100's of choices but i, decided to look at a few apartment towers within the of city which were all about 300 meters from the beach after looking at about a dozen apartment towers, i had made my mind up on one that suited me perfectly.

This was the perfect apartment tower been 22 floors high had no tall building on either side and gave me city and beach views from either side from the 19th floor is a 300 meter walk down the beautiful manicured gardens along the pathway of the tower to the beach and all the shops and restaurants, i needed all in walking distance and the best part of all this a huge 52 square meter studio apartment with a enormous balcony only $240 US per/month. How good is that up in the mornings and a walk or jog on the beach before work, i would call this a long term working holiday.

Life is so relaxed on Jomtien beach it's like been on a paradise holiday resort every day of the week morning sunrises and sunsets are just breathtaking and even the cats are cared for by the local fisherman.

The day views from my 19th floor apartment well what can i, say they are just spectacular seeing part of the city view and part of the beach view, i had nothing to complain about seeing the city by day or by night made me feel like, i was living in a million dollar penthouse high up in sky.

The sunsets are very relaxing sitting on the balcony having a evening red wine, i am spoiling myself right now.

Jomtien is really the city of many retired expats because of it's beautiful beaches, cheap living as in food, nightlife, owning or renting a apartment, here you can live like a king with minimal expenses it would certainly be a city, i would considered retiring if wanting to live in Thailand. The Pirate Bar and Restaurant has become one of my favorite eating places as with breakfast or dinner for a dish of asparagus and prawns you pay $4 US as with most dishes not been over $6 US big portions and just delicious also western foods available at a little extra price.

So far for me living in Jomtien Beach is like countless days of meeting good friends, good food and good times the way life should be.
