Hoy les contaré sobre cuando tuve la oportunidad de visitar el Coliseo Romano.
Today I will tell you about when I had the opportunity to visit Roman Coliseum.

En marzo del año 2019 mi orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela realizó un concierto en el Aula Paolo VI en la ciudad del vaticano por lo que tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer gran parte de la ciudad de Roma.
On march of 2019 my orchestra Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela made a concert at Paul VI room in the city of the Vatican, so we had the opportunity to meet a big part of Roma city.
Próximamente haré un post sobre toda la experiencia en el vaticano y el resto de monumentos de Roma, pero hoy en específico quiero hablarles sobre el coliseo ya que sin duda fue mi favorito y es bastante interesante.
I am doing a post about the experience at the Vatican and the rest of the landmarks soon, but today I want to tell you specifically about the coliseum since this was my favorite one without any doubts, and it is also pretty interesting.
Del Coliseo, sabemos que es un anfiteatro de la época del Imperio Romano, construido en el siglo I y ubicado en el este del Foro Romano. (El cual también pude conocer) y fue el más grande de los que se construyeron en el Imperio Romano.
About the coliseum, we know that it is an amphitheater from the time of the Roman Empire, built in the I century and located in east Roman Forum. (Which I was able to meet too) and it was the biggest one built in the Roman Empire.
Conocido originalmente como Anfiteatro Flavio pasa a ser llamado Coliseo porque a su lado había una gran estatua, el Coloso de Nerón, un monumento dedicado al emperador Nerón que posteriormente sufrió transformaciones y llegó a desaparecer.
Originally known as Flavio Amphitheater this becomes being called Coliseum because there was a big statue next to it, the Colossus of Nero, a monument dedicated to the Nero emperor who underwent transformations and disappeared later.
Luego de la visita y concierto en el vaticano, disponíamos de toda la tarde libre, por lo que mis amigos y yo decidimos conocer algunos de los lugares más emblemáticos de la ciudad, y por supuesto entre ellos estaba el coliseo.
After the visit and concert at the Vatican, we had a free afternoon, so my friends and I decided to meet some of the most emblematic places of the city, and of course the coliseum was among them.
Desde la basílica de San Pedro en la entrada de la ciudad del vaticano hasta el coliseo, nos tomamos apróximadamente 2 horas a pie, con alguna parada para comer helado (que por cierto son los mejores que he comido en toda mi vida) y un ritmo tranquilo, disfrutando de cada monumento que se nos cruzaba.
From the St. Peter's Basilica at the entrance of the Vatican city until the coliseum we took around 2 hours afoot, with some steps to take ice cream (the best ice creams I have ever had) and a calm speed enjoying each landmark we saw.
Cuando llegamos a la "Piazza Venezia" sabíamos que estábamos muy cerca del foto, lo cual nos contentó mucho y aceleramos el paso.
When we arrived to "Piazza Venezia" we knew that we were near of the pic's place, so we were happy and we hurried our walking.
Aquí adjunto un mapa donde verán la "Piazza" en la esquina superior izquierda y verán que tan cerca estábamos:
Here is a map in which you can see "Piazza" in the upper left corner and realize how near we were:
Pero justo antes decidimos parar y probar algo que por supuesto no podíamos dejar de hacerlo:
But just before we decided to stop and try something that we could not put it aside:
¡La pizza!
Pizza!
La verdad son muy distintas a como las hacen en mi país (Venezuela), no tienen tantos ingredientes en una sola, sino que hacen muchas con diferentes pero pocos ingredientes. La gran mayoría tampoco son redondas, pero si son extremadamente buenas.
Actually these are very different compared to the pizzas made in my country (Venezuela), these do not have so many ingredients in one pizza but they make many pizzas with different but few ingredients each. Most of the are not rounded either, but they are extremely good.
Lo mejor de todo fue que podías pedir 1€, 2€, 10€, o lo que tu quisieras de pizza, por lo que decidimos pedir porciones pequeñas de cada una para probarlas todas.
The best part was that you could ordered for 1€, 2€, 10€ or wherever you wanted to eat, so we decided to buy small portions of each one to try all of them.
La que me pareció más extraña de todas fue la de calabaza con queso azul, pero también sabía genial.
The most unusual for me was the pizza with pumpkin and blue cheese, but it was good too.
Al terminar, seguimos caminando y ya a lo lejos veíamos el Coliseo
When we finished we continued walking and we could see the coliseum in the distance.
¡Llegamos!
So we arrived!
Fue realmente impresionante, pues solamente lo había visto en películas y comiquitas. Realmente fue un sueño cumplido.
It was really awesome since I had just seen it in movies or cartoons. It was actually a dream come true.
Nos tomamos varias fotos y lo rodeamos, lamentablemente el primer día que fuimos no estaba abierto y el segundo estaba totalmente full y la cola para entrar era kilométrica, sin embargo no me queda ninguna duda de que algún día volveré para conocerlo mejor.
We took some pictures of us and we walked around, but unfortunately the day that we were was close and the second day was completely full and the line to enter was endless, however I am pretty sure that I will go back someday with more time.
Aprovecho para comentarles que este trayecto puede recorrerse a través del transporte público, no recuerdo con exactitud el precio pero era bastante accesible. Sin embargo les recomiendo que si tienen la oportunidad lo hagan a pie, los monumentos están cercanos unos con otros, y aunque el día que los recorrí casi todos caminé 11 km y no sentía los pies, sin duda vale la pena.
So I take advantage of this to tell you that the mentioned journey can be done by taking the public transport, I do not remember exactly the prices but these were affordable. Nevertheless, I suggest you to do it by walking if you can since the monuments are close to each other, and despite I walked like 11 kilometers and I did not feel my feet it is completely worth it.
Así he hecho en cada país que he visitado y sin duda es lo mejor.
I have done that in each country I have visited and that is the best option I think.
En ese día de los 11 km conocí una gran cantidad de monumentos y lugares importantes de la ciudad, en alguno de mis próximos post les mostraré mi visita al vaticano y cada uno de esos grandes monumentos, con mi respectiva experiencia por supuesto.
That day of the 11 km I met many monuments and landmarks, in one of my next post I will show you my visit to the Vatican and each of the monuments with my experience, of course.
