One of the most amazing place in Japan - Miyajima

Miyajima officially called Itsukushima, a small island in the bay of Hiroshima, famous for the huge shining red gate that appears to float in the water at the high tide. The gate Torri was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. is perfect for a day trip from Hiroshima.
From Hiroshima, depending on the location of your hotel, you can easily get to Miyajima via ferry in about 20 minutes from Miyajimaguchi. According to the Confucian scholar Hayashi Razan, Miyajima is one of the three most beautiful landscapes in Japan, together with Amanohashidate and Matsushima.

The Miyajima Torii has been renovated several times throughout its history. Actually, the current gate is the ninth one on this place. The original gate was probably built in the 12th century during the reign of the warlord Taira no Kiyomori.
