A Habsburg place of remembrance

The murder of King AlbrechtI led to the construction of Königsfelden Abbey in Windisch , Switzerland. The Kings widow Elisabeth and her daughter Agnes created from 1308 here a place of remembrance for the Habsburg dynasty.

1313 Queen Elisabeth died in Vienna after choosing Königfelden as her final resting place. Her doughter Agnes completed until 1330 the building.

The footsteps of Queen Agnes go to Vienna, Hungary, Venice and Königsfelden. Her royal wedding gift, the gem-set diptych, is one of the attractions exhibition pieces in the Berne Museum.
