Hi everyone :)
Returning to national territory, today i start another trip, this time more recent and in a place i haven't visited since i was a child.
From this land i had only vague memories from when i visited with my parents a long time ago, and now, i return with my wife and daughter to live and feel again our dear Alentejo.
It is not the first time that i mention the name Alentejo here, in fact, i have done it several times in previous posts where i registered and shared some adventures along the coast, but this time we went inland to the Arraiolos area where we set up the base in Monte da Mesquita, in an estate dedicated to Agro-tourism, a space that has belonged to the Hespanhol family for successive generations and which is now managed by a very friendly entrepreneur couple who provided us with a wonderful stay.
It was in this quiet space that we defined all the routes and trips that i will share in future posts.
One thing that has always accompanied us during this stay was the insects, something that caused us some discomfort at the beginning, but that over time became a company, it may seem strange but it is something that becomes part of our life when we live in a place like this.
It was perfectly normal and common to find spiders and crickets, among other species, roaming the floor and walls of the house.
Outside in the courtyard, there was frequent contact with bees and a few insects so bizarre that i don't even know the name.
Regarding the facilities, the entire space is very well used, with two large tanks, one of which has been transformed into a beautiful and welcoming swimming pool and the other served as a habitat for fish and frogs.
As you can imagine, for my daughter who lives in the city and inside an apartment, it was an authentic amusement park, and she was not surprised at all by this relationship with the animals.
On the other side of the narrow path that passed through the estate there was a land where the owners had 3 friendly donkeys that accompanied us during the days we spent there and of course, last but not least, Tinto, the dog that since the the first day accompanied us everywhere, mainly on the bike rides on the Eco path, which was right next door and which i will share in a future post.
Finally, and as it will be impossible to forget, the breakfasts that were delivered to us in a basket with typical products from the region, cheeses, jams, bread and that natural orange juice made with oranges from the orchard that was right there in front of the house .
Simply superb.
Now that I have shared the command base, i conclude this post and you already know that this will be the starting point for all the places i will share next on this trip to Alentejo;)
