Ecological Corridor Till Couce - Valongo | Portugal

STAYHOME.jpg

Hi Everyone :)

In continuation of the previous post and already in an intermediate phase of the circuit, it is time to enter the couce road that is accessed after a steep descent but with the necessary safety conditions.
On this trail of the ecological corridor that connects the city of Valongo to the Parque das Serras from Porto with more than 9 km it is possible to observe many emblematic specimens of flora and fauna among several geological features very typical of this region and that are so evident that they made life easier to the scholars who were interested in interpreting and knowing the formation process of these mountains.
Virtually the entire route is accompanied by water lines until it ends in Serra de Pias.

Of the 3 existing routes, green, yellow and red, we are currently on the red route, and it is on this route that we are presented with an excellent panoramic view over the valley of the Ferreira river and Couce.
Right at the beginning it is possible to see some land that is worked on by the locals who remain there in their small and typical houses built with an abundant material in this area, schist, that material used in school boards, those older :) if you don’t know what that is, is the material used on billiard tables, so maybe it’s easier to identify.
These constructions that consist of working the stones in such a way that they fit together and create flat surfaces, giving a rustic look and merging with the surroundings.

I believe that the insulation is not the best that exists, but at least they are resistant to natural elements.
Right there near the agricultural land, mounted on higher levels in the escarpment in order to benefit from sunlight, it is possible to see a series of boxes used in Apiculture, that is, in the creation of stingless bees.
I am not sure what the purpose is, because the creation of bees can have as main objective the production of honey, propolis, beeswax, royal jelly and even poison, or simply create for leisure or even be part of a project of landscaping through pollination.

The idea would be to continue along the path by the river, but after going through the first curve, we came face to face with an unusual movement and so we decided to take some pictures right there and go back by the same path to the place where i left the car.
The walk still lasted about 3 hours and served its purpose perfectly, to leave a closed environment, relax, get air and refresh the ideas.
I'm already thinking about the next one.
