September 28, 2021. The Risk of Stroke is Increased in Severe COVID-19

This article is a observational, multicenter cohort study in four hospitals in Germany to describe consecutive patients with confirmed COVID-19 who developed acute stroke while being hospitalized.

This study, compared the rate of stroke between cases of severe COVID-19 and non-severe COVID-19. It found that there was a relative risk of 4.18 for patients with severe COVID-19 to have a stroke compared to the non-severe cases. The relative risk was statistically significant.
