Recent Mineral Specimen Photography

In case you didn't know, my wife and I are gem and mineral dealers and collectors based in Tokyo. Occasionally I like to post pictures of some of the new minerals passing through our shop or collection, have a look.

Wulfenite - Lead Molybdate PbMoO₄

These wulfenites are from the famous Red Cloud Mine in Arizona. The above was self collected.

Fluorite - Calcium Fluoride CaF2

This is a stunning fluorite from Clay Center in Ohio. The fluorite from CC is usually root beer colored like the smaller crystals surrounding these purple cubes. So I was excited when I found this piece from an old collector. The purple cubes are insanely clear and vivid.

Andradite Garnet Variation Demantoid - Calcium Iron Silicate with Chromium Ca3Fe2(SiO4)3

Andradite (Rainbow Garnet) - Calcium Iron Silicate Ca3Fe2(SiO4)3

Auricalcite & Hemimorphite - Zinc & Copper (Zn,Cu)5(CO3)2(OH)6 & Zinc Silicate Zn4Si2O7(OH)2·H2O

Auricalcaite are the little, blue balls and hemimorphite is the clear crystals in the above picture. This typed of hemimorphite is a very cool mineral to look at. It forms these sprays of crystals that are mesmerizing.

Pictures taken with a Cannon EOS M50 except the rainbow garnet which was taken with my iPhone 10 with a super wide lens.

If you have any questions or recommendations on taking better pictures I'm all ears.
Thanks for reading.
