I saw a man in hand cuffs
rays from his eyes like sunset
his pain could be heard
from thousands of miles away
I wish I could tell you a story
of a man I saw
damaged like debris
wronged but faithful
I wish I could describe what I saw
if only you could listen
believe like it is the word of god
preach about it as prophet would do
longing for justice
like hoping for oxygen in space
opening the door to the abyss
only to fall into a pit
trying to give a definition
to what have seen
word poured out of my heart
like raindrops from the sky
failing to understand
how to tell the powerful, am strong
to tell the meek to speak
looking at a man on a death row
how do I tell him to be hopeful??
