George's father had just been transferred to another town hence the family had to move once again. This meant a new environment, new school and new friends for George who was a complete introvert. It was quite difficult settling in, in the first few weeks and it was a quite lonely one. The most popular gang in school, Francis and his crew were known for their bullying habits and were at it again picking on Huliyana and her friends when George walked in on them and stood up for the girls making him an enemy of Francis but then a friend to the girls who quickly introduced themselves and got acquinted. They invited George for a hangout the following day after school. The next day, George followed Huliyana, Tibareth and Esma to their secret place. The girls usually met there twice a week and had to introduce their new friend to their secret hideout known only to them. They were the best set of friends and this really helped George academically and socially.
George decided to learn how to fix cars from the mechanic who lived next door. He had a garage close too and this was comfortable for George as well. He had people working for him and an apprentice whom George was to join. They immediately became close and the apprentice showed him whatever he was meant to learn or know helping him in whatever way possible. Malcolm was a regular at the garage as he would usually fix his boss' car there. He practically knew everyone who worked in the garage and decide to strike a deal with the apprentice seeing how well he was good at the job. I would be calling you to fix our cars and give you a good percentage, your boss won't or even have to know, that way I could get my cut too. **Probably, the apprentice himself did away with Malcolm for his own selfish reasons** because each time he visited the garage he would put up an attitude and won't even allow the apprentice to work on his car. This continued for a while until he decided to tell his boss the truth concerning the ill treatment received from Malcolm.
One evening, as George had returned from his new job, he could see **a screeching cat outside the window** trapped between two waste bins. He immediately ran down the stairs to save the cat. He took it in and gave it a warm bath. His granny had a cat so it wasn't difficult taking care of one. The following day, he took the cat to the pet shop to have a veterinarian check the cat and also see if he could adopt the cat, everything went well and he could keep the cat. George was so happy he finally got a pet of his own and called it Lily. He got her a beautiful tag labelled L, wherever he went Lily went besides school where pets are not allowed. He introduced it to his friends and everyone loved it because it was friendly and beautiful as well.
