Time - a Freewrite

A baby's cry and a mother's smile,
Before the sun turns, a child is grown. She packs a lunch, puts her boy on a bus, then goes into her kitchen to cry over coffee. She asks God, "Where did my baby go?"
The sun turns again and he's asking for car keys, he's got a date to the dance. She watches them leave through a veil of night then closes her book to wait.

Time marches on, and he's packed to go. College awaits, and the cat can't go. Mom packs him his jacket and boots for the snow, secretly wishing that he wouldn't go.

What has happened to all that time? It's passed with a blur and onward they move. Live for the moment. Live fully today, because tomorrow is coming to steal time away.
