A HOLE IN MY HEART: A picture is worth a thousand words

The thundering applause of the spectating parents and guests echoed and reverbed as we watched these kids put up what seemed to be one of the most musically organized renditions by children.

I caught myself in an emotional moment with a teardrop as I tuned to looked at my friend seated at my right hand who had invited to accompany him to his daughter’s musical concert put together by her school. i was already tearing up while watching the kids sing and play various musical instruments because it made me realize how proud my friend felt as a father watching his daughter play a stringed instrument and the crowd cheered.

The euphoria of that very moment scotched the depth of the hole in my heart, a vacuum no one could fill ever since my childhood.

At several children’s event in school or church, I would watch other kids laugh and play around their fathers and how the laughter on their masculine facial structures showed the extent of their happiness. I had a super responsible, loving and busy mum who would show up for me on most of these days but I still wondered what difference it would have made if she showed up together with my father. Despite having the best mum in the world but the feeling of what it meant to have a father is one I would never be able to describe properly as I lost my father at the cold hands of death before my birth.

This picture brought back such emotional moments and if you had the privilege of growing up with an amazing father, I think you should appreciate and cherish such memories.
