I like your mother's saying. It does say an awful lot in very few words. I'm trying to listen to my very first feelings when I encounter someone. I think the first few moments are the least guarded for both of us, and the most truthful. After that, we start to think, and start to pose, and start to try to please or offend. So that very first impression is not contaminated.
