My last few posts have been so depressing that I decided that I was only going to write happy posts, but life would not let me do that.
Two days ago one of our fishermen friends was placed on a ventilator, he had covid. Last night he passed. RIP Boo Boo.
That is enough of a buzz kill, no more talk about sad things.
Today we fished around our area. We first went over to the Big Flat but only caught one pompano. Next, we ran to the inlet, then Long Point, over to Barefoot Bay Island. We anchored there but did not catch anything. We were going down the north side of Summit Island sandbar at the same time another boat was going down the south side of the bar. I saw one skipped behind the other boat and he saw it, too. He anchored. we went around the island and anchored on the southeast side. One skipped off of our boat but we did not catch anything.
We were on our way to Miners Island, that is where we caught them 2 weeks ago. My husband's phone rang and it was our friend who works for Mosquito control, he said he was at Pauls Island and pompano showered, one even jumped in his boat, he was saving it for us.
Pauls Island is about 10 miles from where we are at. We ran down there, met the friend and he showed us where he saw them. we anchored and caught 6. We moved all over and never caught another one.
We ended up with 8 pompano that weighed 17 pounds.
