Car Repair (short story) | A 5 Minute Freewrite

I've heard stories about people suddenly disappearing at car repair shop on the outskirts of McGarand. The last story I heard about two weeks ago, happened to a young man from the south, who had come to fix his car there, never to return after that day.

From Mr. Michael, my neighbor, who has a bad habit of picking his nose while eating donuts, I got some mysterious facts about the disappearance of these people. I'll tell you about it, so sit down nicely, because it won't be long.

According to Mr. Michael, the last person to disappear before the man from the south was a police officer who daily patrolled the straight road in the area near the Husk gorge. His name is Bernard.

That day, he wanted to repair some of the damage to the bumper of the patrol car he often drove. The car just hit the sign on the corner a few days ago.

When he arrived at the gate of the workshop... but, wait a minute. You can imagine that the workshop has a very large yard, which is filled with mountains of car wrecks on the left and right, where there is only a 7 meter wide road that divides the pile of scrap metal. From the front of the workshop it looks quiet, if you want to see the busy activities in the workshop, you have to drive inside for a few more meters.

That day, an officer named Bernard and a police friend named Linda slowly drove their car into the garage gates, but until they were there 30 minutes, they still had not found anything, except the sight of a pile of scrap metal consisting of the carcasses of various types of cars.

"It's strange, why isn't there any activity here," his friend asked.

"I don't know, the oil meter is even under one. Oh, my God, I wish they had fuel there too," Bernard replied.

But, as far as they walked, they still found nothing, until Linda's eyes caught a shadowy figure jumping over the wreckage of the truck container in the left corner. The woman even had to be willing to throw away the coffee that was just in her hand, because she was so shocked.

"What is it, Bernard?" he asked with a pale expression on his face.

"What? Bernard responded to Linda in the usual way, because he himself didn't see the shadow that Linda saw.

"That, over there..." said Linda, "stop, I'm still curious," continued Linda.

"Ah, maybe a cat, or some other animal. Never mind, something more important, we have to get to the center of this damn workshop, because I'm getting annoyed right now," Bernard did not see what Linda was pointing at, while the woman was getting more and more frightened. after seeing the true form of the shadow he had seen earlier and he was standing there right now.

"You've got to see it, Bernard, cats aren't that big, please," Linda pleaded.

Bernard immediately braked the car, then looked at Linda with annoyance, "oh, God, not anymore, you're not hallucinating, or are you drunk?" said Bernard with a frown.

Mr. Michael said somehow at first, but that night Linda was found unconscious in their patrol car, on the edge of a cactus garden not far from the workshop. Linda admits that she doesn't remember anything after she had a fight with Bernard over arguing about the shadowy figure she saw. However, he was sure that Bernard had been kidnapped by the hideous figure for some reason, while he was trying to get out of the place by speeding the car as fast as possible so that he hit a cactus tree and passed out.

Uniquely, the last case that happened to a youth from the south also had a similar story, namely targeting a man who was driving with a woman. The main victim was the boy, while the girl must have survived—perhaps so she could tell others about the incident.

I'm not sure myself whether I believe in the stories of Mr. Michael or not, but I still enjoy it as someone who loves horror and mystery stories. I kept hearing new stories about missing people in auto repair shops, only their names or occupations were different, until one day I got up the courage to ask.

"Then how do you know all these stories, Mr. Michael?" Mister Michael was kind of taken aback by my question, and after that, I felt like everything went black, but I think I just saw a shadowy figure that Linda had seen.
