Ann and Jacob

Ann and Jacob met at the market, he owns a fruit stand and she came there to buy some for her two granddaughters who were going to visit her that weekend, they are both widowed.

Every Friday Ann would visit him, buy oranges, apples and peaches, and Jacob would give her strawberries as a gift.

They always talked about their lives, for a few minutes every Friday. He would save the best selection of fruit for her, especially strawberries because they were Ann's favorite fruit. They both looked forward to every Friday.

One day Jacob asked Ann out, but although she was dying to accept, she refused, feeling that she was disrespecting the memory of her late husband.

He understood her, in fact he also felt a little guilty.

And so time went by, they would talk for a few minutes every Friday, their faces would light up, but then their life would go on as if nothing had happened.

One afternoon, Jacob was in the town square, bought the newspaper and sat down to read it. Ann passed by him, her heart leapt at the sight of him, and though she hesitated, she approached him.

Jacob's eyes lit up when he saw her, but they were both speechless with emotion, and just like that, Jacob shared the newspaper with Ann, she sat down next to him, and that silence was enough to bring closer those souls longing for love.
