Flightless Gary

source

Gary the goose, a colourful goose with a yellowish beak and tiny wings lived in a beautiful meadow with all of his animal friends. Gary was a kind and gentle goose, he loved helping out where he could, but Gary had one problem - he couldn't fly. All of the other animals of his age would often make fun of Gary and call him a weakling because he couldn't soar through the skies like the rest of them. This was due to the weak bones and wings he has. On several occasions he had tried to flap his wings and soar like the others but all wasn't fruitful.

He was constantly teased but Gary didn't let their teasing get him down. He knew that he had other strengths and he was determined to prove to his friends that he was just as valuable as any of them. How he got strength to wade off the constant negative energy from his peers was still a mystery.

One day, disaster struck the meadow. An enemy army of vicious predators had invaded, threatening to harm or kill all of the animals. Gary's friends were terrified, but he knew he had to do something to protect them.

Despite his inability to fly, Gary courageously marched towards the enemy army. He honked and flapped his wings, trying to scare them off. And just like a miracle the flightless bird gradually found himself being lifted off the ground. He was flying. This gave him more courage as he charged more fiercely at the enemies. The predators were surprised by the little goose's bravery and hesitated for a moment, giving the other animals time to escape. And a few other brave birds joined him, he had set the pace for bravery in them.

But Gary's bravery came at a cost. As he fought off the enemy, he was badly injured and knew that he wouldn't survive. He lay on the ground, panting and covered in wounds, but with a fierce determination in his eyes.

The other animals gathered around Gary, tears in their eyes as they watched their brave friend take his last breath. They realized too late the mistake they had made in judging Gary based on his inability to fly. He had proven to be the bravest and most selfless of all of them, sacrificing his own life to save his friends.

From that day on, the animals of the meadow held Gary in the highest regard, remembering him as a hero who had shown them the true meaning of strength and courage.
