The conversation between the patient and the surgeon.

Friends in their gallery, original photo provided by the artists themselves.

On Monday morning, Maria woke up early and got ready for her surgery. She had been waiting for this day for months, and although she was a little nervous, she was ready to go through with the procedure.

She arrived at the hospital and was taken to the operating room, where she was met by her surgeon, Dr. Garcia.

While she was preparing for the operation, Maria and the Dr. began to chat. He asked her about her interests and her hobbies, and she told him about her love of art. The Dr. mentioned that he was an artist himself, and that he had recently visited an art market in a nearby town. He told her about a ceramist named Adolfo Morales, who had won the National Fire Arts Award, and who had very interesting and beautiful works of art. Maria became interested in the story and asked him to tell her everything.

During the procedure, she felt relaxed and in good hands. After a couple of hours she was done successfully. She made a quick recovery and was grateful to have found such a talented and compassionate doctor.

A few weeks after the operation, she recovered enough to be able to walk on her own. She decided to visit the art market that the Dr. had mentioned to her before the surgery. She met up with Adolfo Morales, the ceramist, and marveled at his creations, including gorgeous ceramic bats hanging from the ceiling and highly detailed wooden artwork. She also saw some very pretty and colorful jewelry made by women artists.

As she walked through the market, she remembered the conversation she had with her doctor before her surgery, and how he had told her about the art market that was near her.

She felt grateful for the chance that led her to meet Adolfo Morales, and for having found a new interest in art thanks to the conversation she had with her doctor that encouraged her to explore new territories.

The world is full of coincidences, and thanks to being encouraged to get out of her comfort zone, she found new opportunities.

This is my entry in @mariannewest's daily freewriting challenge. Today's prompt is surgery.

This story is based on a real conversation that several friends had, including Adolfo Morales himself, who really is a plastic artist who won that award.

Thanks to my friend who kindly shared the talk they had yesterday, which I used to build this fiction and is on the photo.
At the top is the image of the conversation between the friends, on which this story was based.
