Fell Dragon Book 2 Introduction 1: Races

Fell Dragon
Welcome back Readers

Before you all get excited, this isn't the start of the second book. However, it will contain vital information that will be needed to understand the characters who appear later.

Those of you who have met me face-to-face, know that I have a single published book under my name. This is Seeking a Prince. I wrote this book years ago and decided to have it self published. Needless to say, it could have been better edited, but over all I thought the story was great.

Seeking a Prince takes part decades before Fell Dragon and follows the life of Saasha, a Saith warrior. Now I am not going to spoil to book if you are interested in reading it, but she and her family plays a crucial role in what is to come in Fell Dragon.

Seeking a Prince is the first of the Seeking series, followed by Seeking Revenge which takes place about eight years later, then Seeking Completion another eight years after the second book. Through this series you learn about the Saith culture, the two main planets they have, and the ever expanding family Saasha manages to amass.

Spoiler warning, only the first of the Seeking series is published, the other two or manuscripts on my pc and will likely not see the light of day till I put money toward self publishing again. However, as Fell Dragon progresses, more and more of the characters from Seeking will appear and have a heavy influence on how humans are seen in the universe and prevent the havoc which is to come. This will spoil some of the story line for the Seeking Series though.

To prevent a monster post which makes no sense, I will have different introductory posts when necessary to explain something from Seeking which may not make sense in Fell Dragon. Each will be labeled to explain what is needed. This particular introduction is to introduce the three new species which will enter the fray. Some of you who have completed Book One of Fell Dragon will instantly recognize one. So, here we go.

Saith
Human-like warriors with cat like tendencies. They are taller than an average human and have a tail. They are also ruled by a single king at the time of Seeking a Prince, but this change to a queen on the one planet and a king on the second.

Their education system is vastly different to that of humans. Where humans tend to remain in school till they are 18 before they decide what direction of study they want to go into, this occurs much earlier in the Saith. Children grow up watching what their mother or father do as an occupation and tend to choose one of the two (rarely choosing something they aren't exposed to). The common school-going age for children is 8, but when they enter school it is for a specific craft. So, imagine schools for soldier, doctors, engineers, etc. Fathers get to choose the school the child goes to, while the mother has some control over the age at which the child can go. Education lasts till about 18 and then the young adult can specialise in their chosen field.

Kai
Image elves but with more of a snooty attitude, then you'd have the Kai. These light to purple-skinned people have a society governed by specific coloured houses which run all the aspects of their lives. Originally, there was one house which kept all the houses in check (the white house, aka the royal line), but they were destroyed before Seeking a Prince. A little about why this happened gets explained in Seeking Revenge. Once the white house fell, the other houses started to bicker so much, this high class society nearly fell into ruin. Now the Kai vote every few years to see which house will rule their planets. They don't feature much, but their species is something that will play a role later in the Fell Dragon series.

Dekai
The Dekai are what the Kai would have been is they hadn't been bent on enslaving the entire universe millennia ago. Under King Sedeath, they separated from the Kai and disappeared. Not much is known about this enigmatic people.

They appear to look like Kai but with grey to black-skinned with white hair. One thing that stands out, is that their royal and ancient lines tend to present with a large set of bat-like wings. They are considered peace-loving, but that isn't always the case.

The Dekai aren't as heavily invested in energy or weapon usage as the Saith or Kai, but they have something far greater. Magic. As the Seeking series is written from a warrior's perspective, magic is understood as just another way to manipulate the energy in the universe. The Dekai are also able to hide their planet beyond the veils of time, meaning they understand and can use time magic, though luckily only a few people know how to do this.

Another thing that makes these people odd is that they have what they refer to as Aids. These are spirits of ancient rulers who get tethered to a child who needs guidance for a major event somewhere in their future. These spirits become attracted to the child upon their birth, but remain silent until they are required to help the Dekai. This is a rare occurrence, but is revered when it occurs.

Magnus from Chrono Trigger was a huge influence when I designed the villain from Seeking a Prince.
