Emilia waited outside her fenced backyard as the sun went down. Her three female ducks waddled home with their ducklings in tow as they do, every evening.
"Ma? Ben Drake has not returned," her daughter observed. Ben Drake was the nickname of their oldest duck.
He never returned home again.
