"Eat me" the voice from the evil red mushroom persuaded her.
Candice felt a cold chill all over. The goosebumps on her skin rose like she had chicken skin. She had heard tales of the red mushroom of evil from her parents severally and had thought it to be rumors. She never knew that one day she would come face to face with it.
She had journeyed to the evil part of the forest. She could hear the loud shrill of unseen voices, which came with echoes. Just like the loud back up singers in her village. It was dawn yet felt like dusk in the forest as mist covered the atmosphere. It felt like a scene from a horror movie.
She had escaped her hometown in fear of being killed by her tyrant uncle who had just murdered her both parents. She had watched in hiding as they took their last breaths. She stayed in hiding until she was sure the killers were gone and she ran all the way into the deep forest, never looking back. She had gone two days without food in her sojourn in this horror ridden place.
The voice came again from the weird mushroom, this time louder and more convincing.
"I can make you powerful to avenge their death, if only you take a bite".
She couldn't dispute the fact that she was hungry. Besides what she will lose by a bite,she had already lost all she had in life- her parents.
Like a hungry lion she pounced on the mushroom and in minutes she was done. Then it came the nauseous feeling, hallucinations and finally she fell into a trance.
She woke the next day feeling stronger and powerful with voices in her heart. All she heard them say and all she could think of was avenging the deaths of her parents.
