With the increase number of Covid19 cases at my area recently, many parents are starting to stop sending their children to schools. Not only that, in our parents' discussion, many are pleading the school to resume online learning from home, BUT, no response from the school's management yet. Parents are worried. Teachers are in dilemma. Everyone is waiting for government's announcement. In fact, some of the colleges in my area are still in online teaching, leaving the building empty. Vacant.
Institution
This got me thinking, if one day, everyone is learning at home, every household has chosen to learn from home instead of sending their children to school, colleges and universities, will all the institutions in the form of building become obsolete? We know many hotels had closed down. Businesses shut down. Companies too. Will academic institutions be run via online instead of having the need of building?
What about those supermarkets and malls? Do we still need them since everyone is buying fresh produce from farms and production lands. People are offering delivery service of produce and products right from their factories and farms. Then, what is the existence of supermarkets and malls for? Wouldn't them be redundant?
Internet has indeed changed the whole world globally. We connect with one another without having to meet. We meet the teachers online. We buy things online. No schools. No institutions involved. Not going to malls as well.
I am not sure how the world will become. But I know many are becoming more and more accustomed to online learning and online purchase. We just hope everything will work out for good. And I am not sure does this write up related to the prompt but I am having fun typing my thoughts.
