Legend has it that some god created a certain land with plenty of riches and a unique weather so that abundance and prosperity would always be with their inhabitants.

Then, came the devil, who aparently was the one in charge.
"I'll add some caudillo mentality to the mix; something that will eventually become the military; then I'll add some populist discourse. Give them 8 to 10 years (give or take) and they will turn paradise into hell," he must have said.
Every 8 to 10 years, legend has it, this land of grace would turn whatever good they had into spoils.
A devilish voice can be heard every now and then. Same sentence, just slightly modified to make room for more.
"Give them eight to ten years to get freedom from one empire only to be ensalved by another."

Legend has it that god accepted the devil's plan because he was creator of all things and the devil's plan was already his plan. He was very possitive about his creation and he was sure they would need all this punishment to come our renovated, cleansed, and purified.
