Rest is one of the gifts given to humanity, it is a privilege to be at a state where you do not do anything whatsoever. It might be that you've been helped or you simply do not care, but the point is that you are not bothered about anything when you are at a state of rest. So, you just relax and enjoy yourself at a restful state. Which is why they greet the dead that their souls should find rest, or God rest their soul.
