Speaking in a muffled tone is the best way to speak, it's cool and calm. The most essential thing in communication is that the message you are passing across is received and understood. If this is true, then it does not matter if the voice is muffled or not. Although, this is my opinion. I have some friends who have muffled voice, and it looks good on them.
