"In 2015, a 1880s bay cottage was demolished and replaced with a new apartment" Mr. Zahradeen told an elderly man who wanted a different roof structure
"The roof was made with rafters, purlins, and collar ties, it will be a perfect one for the kind of your building " he added.
The elderly man had suffered from a bad roof structure over the years, surprised at how the other roof lasted longer made him inquisitive.
"Can I see a picture of the roof structure you recommend?"
Zahradeen didn't waste time to bring out a printed photo of the roof.
"The wide spacing indicates that the house was roofed by corrugated irons" the old man said.
"That's true, and that's what gives it the lasting effect"
The roofing structure looked old fashioned for the elderly man, but if that could give him the lasting duration he wanted , then it was okay to give it a try.

The roofing structure worked perfectly for his location, which often experiences heavy rain and wind, he thought . Zahradeen walked him around some old cottages as he described to him how long the building had lasted because of the roof structure.
"This is an 1880s bay cottage," Zahradeen said, pointing at the building that was still standing strong. "You can try this out and let's see if it suits your taste for durability".
