A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

It's been 10 years since Deborah left home. She had left in anger after an argument with her mum who insisted she marry Abbey, an engineer working for her mum then. Deborah was 21, a young beautiful girl who was hardworking, she believed she was old enough to make right and wrong choices.

"I'm not getting married to Abbey" she said, anger could be felt from her voice. Soon she left home with a few of her belongings, no one knew where she was going.

Her mum was happy to welcome her home after a very long time. She had grown old with gray hair and was frail. she walked Deborah around the field, it was winter, the grasses were dried. They sat on the grasses as they both shared stories about how hard it was to stay that long without the other.

"I'm sorry mum, I acted foolishly by leaving" Deborah said to her mum sitting next to her with her hands wrapped around her shoulder.

"No" the mum replied "I shouldn't have insisted that you marry someone you don't love".

They sat on the field laughing and talking. Deborah felt loved again, it was as if the years they've been apart strengthened their bond as they both spoke with one voice.

"I'd like to know who you're planning to get married to, you know I'm not getting any younger," her mum Said. Now she wasn't forcing anyone on her, she was right to know her plans concerning marriage.

"His name is Gabriel, I'll introduce you to him soon," Deborah said.
