ZapFic50 Contest "heart"

Wow, I'm so happy that I was considered a runner-up for last week's contest. Thank you to all who read my story :)

This week is about the ancient egyptian believe in the tribunal of the weighing of the heart. It fits with the prompt "heart" that we were given for this week's contest.

The titel of the story is:

Our hearts are to heavy anyway

After you die, the gods weigh your heart. If it is lighter than a feather from the goddess Maat, you enter the afterlife. If not, the monster Ammit eats you and you cease to exist. We no longer believe in an afterlife. Modern man gets devoured by Ammit straight away…

That was my story for this week, I hope you enjoyed it :)

By the way, you can see Ammit on the picture above: it's the monster on the right. You can also see the scales with the heart of the deceased and the feather from Maat, with Anubis operating the scales and the god Thot (who invented writing, among other things) writing down what happens as well as the other gods (there should be 42 present at the ceremony but not all a pictured here) looking on.
