5 Minutes Freewrite: Sunday Prompt - Why Would You Want To

Source

Kate, a chef with ZYRTEC Fast Foods wanted to leave her present employer for greener pastures. She has been into commercial cooking for over seven years now. She started sending her CVs to both online and offline recruiters and hoping that she gets a better job with a better pay soonest

One day she got a correspondence from one of the numerous companies she had applied to requesting her to appear on a certain date for an interview. She was elated to see such an invitation which appears to be for a well paid job, at least based on her personal assessment.

The day of her interview came and Kate dressed up looking ravishingly smart. She was expecting a practical interview. But when she got there the reverse was the case. After the initial checks she was ushered into a boardroom where the interviewers were already seated.

She walked in, almost trembling and with a faint but soothing voice she greeted all of them. They responded and observing her uneasiness offered her a seat. She thanked them and sat down. "Now, let's get down to business, Why would you want to work here"? Kate initially was silent but summoned the courage and began: "well, I've been a professional cook with diverse working experience in most reputable fast food and restaurants both within and outside this province and with my wealth of experience garnered over the years I will contribute to the massive growth of this establishment".

The interviewers exchanged quick glances at each other, flipped open their dockets, looked at her impressive CV and told her that they don't have further questions for her. That she should await for their response within 3 days from that day. Kate thanked them and came out of the boardroom with mixed feelings. Did she finally land the job? ...your guess is as good as mine!
