Introducing Theco Labs' Collaborative Art Experiment

thecogif.gif

Hello, welcome to Theco Lab! If you're one of those non-reading types, jump to the bottom. For the rest of you, I'm sure you have lots of questions about things like 'How did I get here?', 'Why am I wearing this lab coat?', 'What did I take last night?', and so on and so forth. Look there will be plenty of time for all of these trivial topics later, but for now the main thing you need to know to survive is this: Theco Lab is currently researching the extremely dangerous idea of a long term, community led, collaborative art experiment.

The general premise is that a collective of collaboratively minded artist can work together voluntarily and create works of art that help each member to grow and evolve as artist while building a sense of community and creating great art. You may be wondering things like, 'How is that dangerous?', 'Why would I consent to this?', 'How does this mysterious narrator keep reading my mind?', and so on and so forth. Look we've all been there and as far as the first question, well... have you ever seen what happens when you get groups of humans together? What's more dangerous than a bunch of humans trying to make stuff? shudders

It's ok though, look we've had experience dealing with humans and even those 'artist' types. We're obviously experts at it, this is a lab after all. Would anyone that isn't an expert have a lab? Ok don't answer that one. Anyway, on to the details that you'll need to know to advance your career here in the lab. Clearly you want to advance your career here in the lab, I mean there's only ever been that one guy that refused and... well... we don't really talk about it, but he's still floating around somewhere out there. Casually glances at the viewing port.

Ok so let's lay out the basic building blocks of how this thing is going to work. All good experiments need some sort of controls or it'll just be chaos. Shifty eyes towards @art-anon. Not that chaos is bad per say, it's just not the objective of this particular experiment. Where to begin...

The starting concept of the project is for the artists who choose to participate in this research to work together creating original artworks to share on this blog. Other researchers will then take this piece of art and build on it and modify it. This process will continue until the collaborative artists deem that particular line of research complete. At that point, the completed project will then be minted and auctioned on @nftshowroom.

This is where things get interesting. By participating in this research, the collaborators each earn an equal share of the rewards from the auction of the project they helped to advance. This does mean that participation is required and simply having an ID is not an entitlement to benefits.
This incentivizes the collaborators to do high quality research and add value to this big open universe we're infiltrating exploring.

You'll need to grab an ID before proceeding to the secure areas of the facility. I know, I know, what kind of place of work makes you buy your own ID? Well look, I'll level with you, we had to bring in a mod type for initial funding of this spaceship research facility and they agreed to foot the upfront cost and handle the administration of this thing, so we couldn't really complain. Plus it covers the cost of publishing and auctioning off all of the fine research we'll be doing.

Now we just need a name for you humans all. What should we call you? Hmm... I got it. We'll call you Orators. Who wouldn't want to be a Theco Lab Orator? Theco Lab Orators it is then. The science is settled. We look forward to examining you your research soon.

TLDR:

  • Get an ID here: https://nftshowroom.com/gallery/thecolabs_orator-card_theco-lab-orator-id
  • ID will provide you a posting key for this account.
  • Use the key to upload an artwork post to the project account.
  • All submitted work, be it the originating piece or the derivative pieces need to have the collaborators account name that holds an ID NFT tagged in the post or comment.
  • Other participants will then use their key to submit modified versions of the pieces you share and will tag their account that holds an ID NFT for collaborator credit.
  • Projects may branch off and become multiple unique pieces.
  • Participants are rewarded for aiding in the creation of the piece by equally splitting the proceeds from auctioning off completed works.
  • All artwork submitted to and minted by this project will be released under CC0 public domain license.
