"Postcard Art Party" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

This afternoon / evening, my wife and I crowded around the coffe table with postcards, pens, scissors, stickers, packing tape, glue sticks, and our address book, and we made a bunch mail art. Some were just postcards with snarky comments, others were full blown collage works... Here are some bits and pieces of the works that I put together! (I'll try to talk Mariah into sharing her works on her Hive blog...)

I've written this 100 times already (or more), but I firmly believe that something as simple as a postcard or note or weird piece of art can help keep the connections with family and friends alive, especially in these socially distanced times!

Here's a piece I sent out a few days ago (I waited to share so the package would have a chance to get to the folks I sent it too before they saw it on the blog. They are occasional readers of my nonsense!)

I thought it was funny... Certainly more entertaining to get THIS in the mail than a P.U.D. bill or religious pamphlet telling me I'm still a sinner. (I knew that already!) Easy to make. Cheap to send. And the recipient just might chuckle a bit looking at it after a tough day... Maybe!

So cut up some cereal boxes, scrawl a stick figure on a little chunk with a Sharpie saying something silly, pop a sticker or two on the envelope, and apply a stamp. It's a fun way to spend your time, and who knows??? You might even get something cool sent back to you!!!
