Milky Way Painting

In today's post I would like to share the Process behind creating abstract universe paintings.

CREATIVE PROCESS:

While painting abstract art, a mini paint roller always comes in handy.
I usually use it for underpainting, or for creating backgrounds and different textures.

In this case, the whole painting was executed using just this guy, excluding the accent (stars), sprayed with the brush in several occasions in a manner which should resemble a star trail.

I find paint rollers very grateful for creating soft transitions, just what I needed to create a cloudy effect.
I keep reusing the sponges until they start dissolving, just like the one shown on the photograph

Painting soft transitions from deepest to vibrant and bright blue colors will create a cloudy effect.
I also decided to add bright spots of bursting light which ranges from almost white to different shades of pink or green, again with soft transitions created with the roller.

Here are couple of close ups:

I like to use stiff old brushes for dotting. The spray effect can also be achieved with a toothbrush.
