Cosmic Creations Contest | Daisy

Happy weekend friends, I wish you a very lovely one. The cosmic creations contest has been on for some time now, this is round five and it's been interesting so far.

The theme for this round is "Inspired by Art History", the point is to find a historical art and use it as an inspiration for a new work. I'm really glad that we were given websites where we could easily find this works.

I visited ArtVee and saw lots of interesting art, one that caught my eye was "Young beauty" by Leopold Schmutzler and I immediately clicked on the work to get a better view, then I got to see more of his works and I changed my mind immediately I set eyes on Dame mit Margeritenstrauß, I fell in love with it for many reasons, colours, pose and most importantly, the flowers....

PROCESS

I had a few ideas in mind before doing the sketch, the very first one took a lot of time and I still didn't get it right so I went for plan B. I started with a sketch and got it right, I painted flat colours on her skin, clothes and hair. I painted her eyes, nose, mouth, brows and lashes before moving on to add details to her clothes, painted shadows and highlights to her skin and also added more strands and colours to her hair.

The part I looked forward to most was the flowers, I painted the stems first and added some details to it before painting the petals and seeds, I also added little details where necessary. I thought it would be a good Idea to paint individual flowers so I painted one high up and two others bent downwards over her hand. I almost missed the scarf so I painted that in and used some simple brushes to paint the background, what do you think?
