I wanted to make a miniature version of the card so I opted for a chibi size, hehe. This card reminds me of Groot! I am groooot! Anyways~

The background would be some trees and bushes. The mini Ancient Redwood would be on the center. Next, I used a solid pencil for the lineart.

Next, I copied the base colors from the original card. I then added a new layer for the hard shadows. I used a soft brush and airbrush, and for the cell shading I used the same brush as the lineart.

Half of my time was in the background. Normally, I just go for a gradient color. For this, I used different brushes like a smudge brush, an airbrush in medium pressure, and a solid brush. The grass and leaves are a special brush downloaded from the asset store.

I then added more elements such as the trees, and more bushes on the background and front bushes and blurred them.

Final Art

The last layer would be the light effects. I added rays of the sun touching the logs, bushes, ground, and the character. I added some floating circles like dust in the air. I used color dodge mode for most of the part. Finished art! ✨
