You can see panel 8 shows one of our first major edits. When I had written the panel I had mentioned that Adams tenses, hands out, as he waits to see if anything bad happens to him. Theresa interpreted that as more of a magical "you shall not pass" moment where Adams holds himself with dignity and authority. I had envisioned that moment as a little more comical, and you can see what I was going for in the pencil version. I wanted him to look unsure, I wanted to see his face.
