Duration: 5 hours
Materials: pencil colors
Okay, this one took some time for me to finish. I started on this yesterday after my shift at 3 and I worked on this for 3 hours straight maybe then we had dinner at 6 and idk, when I came back to it after my nightly rituals, I lost all motivation to draw and walked off to watch a ghibli movie 馃槄
I was actually pretty confident in my attempt with this because I love the palette of red in my art. I love how red is such an easy color to blend in but idk if it was with my approach or not? but for the first 3 hours, I was confident in where this piece was heading.
So when I work with pencil colors and only pencil colors, I always go for the lightest color then going to the darkest. for the sketch, I went straight with a tellow pencil then worked my way down with shades of orange, moving across the color spectra instead of working down. this way creates a more vibrant appeal to your art.
And I remember telling myself at the beginning of this piece that this was supposed to be a red/orange neon drawing but I have no idea why I can't pull off that iridescent red that I could always pull off with a pen. idk, I'm having a hard time having such a wide palette now.
This is where I ended up stopping at the 3 hour mark yesterday. not really there yet... but i really thought I could fix it somehow when I got back to it.
Unfortunately when I got to face it again today, I don鈥檛 know what to fix and I just ended up experimenting with this one again 馃ゲ
I've no regrets with how this one turned out. On the contrary, I think it was pretty good for a palette trial. But idk, i think I need to understand my medium better so I can pull off better shades and blending
would appreciate any word of criticism in regards to the color blending, or maybe tips for pencil colors?
Welp, this is all from me today. I need sleep soon because preparing for audit has been a headache. ciao people!
