Once they were on the same volleyball team in high school...
I drew Kageyama and Hinata from my favourite anime/manga Haikyuu!!
Well, they are still on the same team in the anime but the last episode of the manga was published a while ago. Some of us already know that they are going on different paths and meet again at an official volleyball match.
Kageyama plays with the Schweiden Adlers and Hinata plays with the MSBY Black Jackals after high school. I don’t want this to be a spoiler and I haven’t read all the manga yet myself so I won’t say too much but I hope you take a peak at the videos.

高校バレーボール部で青春の日々を共にした二人は。。。
アニメ/漫画ハイキュー！！より、影山くんと日向くんを描きました。。。。というか、漫画の連載は少し前に最終回を迎えて二人は高校を卒業して。。。となっていますが、アニメではまだ二人は青春真っ只中です。私も漫画は全部読んでいないので、詳しく話すのはやめておきます。
卒業して影山くんはV.リーグのシュヴァイデンアドラーズに、日向くんはMSBYブラックジャッカルに入ります。そして卒業後、二人が試合で初めて対戦する場面を描きました。

The real V.League players wore the uniform of the MSBY Black Jackals and the Schweiden Adlers from the manga! The game took place at the arena in Sendai Japan.

I watched a part of the game. I could almost see Kageyama and Hinata playing!
下の動画はハイキュー！！x V.リーグのスペシャルコラボマッチのハイライトです。
漫画に出てくるシュヴァイデンアドラーズとMSBYブラックジャカルのユニフォームを現役のV.リーグの選手が身に付けての試合です。
漫画の中でも登場する、カメイアリーナ仙台（仙台市体育館）で行われました。
興奮しましたよ〜感動です。
影山くんと日向くんがそこにいるみたいでした。

さてさて、お絵描きの話をしましょう。
下の写真はスケッチ（左、右、左、右、左、右と見てください、笑）からグリザイユ/グレートーンのイラストが仕上がるまでの過程です。

Lots of adding gray tones colour/blending and shaping of the characters here and the grayscale drawing is completed.
左が影山飛雄くん、右が日向翔陽くん。この作品に出てくるキャラクターは、皆んな名前がとても素敵なんですよね。
グレーを加えて何度もブレンド、目の位置や腕、頭の形なども何度も動かして描き直して、グレートーンのイラストは完成です。
Now adding colour to the grayscale drawing.
I added environmental colour first and local colour next.
グレートーンで描いたものに色をのせていきます。
環境光を入れてからローカルカラーをのせます。
Adding colour was pretty simple because I spent a lot of time detailing the grayscale but some adjustments needed to be done.
グレートーンで描いたものに色をのせる作業は結構シンプルです。色調や彩度の調節は必要ですが、グレートーンでかなり描き込むので、もともと色塗りが苦手な私には嬉しい画法です。塗るではなく“色をのせる”という言い方が本当に合っていると思います。
