After Rain | Painting art

Painting something meaningful with some kind of mood is not an easy thing for me. Maybe because I don't really draw stuff that tells a story and also understand the important of proper lighting. Which will help to convey the mood of the drawing. I'm not a good story teller, so I start to train myself by learning how to paint a simple scene, which is this hamster holding a leaf after rain. Hahaha.

Start with the drafting.

Base colour layout. I want to make it feels like a moment after rain in the night, somewhere under the street light, but seems like I need some reference.

After some reference, the contrast is getting better, but personally prefer a better colour choice for the darker part. This is the best I can do.

Rendering....
This is me trying to take a photo reference with Winnie the pooh charm that I have, a table lamp and a small piece of paper.
After the reference, the result is so much better then I expected.

Some other reference picture that I can find and continue rendering.

Final!
Personally I like how the face and water droplets came out.
When I'm typing for this post, I noticed I can do better in some of the parts.

I would like to share this youtuber and his video that inspired me.
He is a very lovely guy and I love his laugh. His illusrtation is also very funny to me.
He talks about how to make your drawing more memorable and interesting. Which make me realize that is something I didn't have in my drawings.
