🎨 HORROR VACUI 2 - digital

HORROR VACUI

“Nature abhors a vacuum.”
Aristotle

“If you want to really hurt you parents, and you don't have the nerve to be gay, the least you can do is go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possible can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country

HORROR VACUI - digital from a original graphite drawing - 2015

In visual art, horror vacui ( Latin for 'fear of empty space') or kenophobia (from Greek for 'fear of the empty') is the filling of the entire surface of a space or an artwork with detail.
Wikipedia

The original pencil drawing had been digitally colored with overlays, cropped and mirrored (as seen above).

But I was not finished playing with it, and subsequently did a few more things in Photoshop with filters.

So this is what I do sometimes when I am just noodling around, trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Sometimes I do use designs I generate when I am just playing around for decorations of various Print-On-Demand items. Such as here on Fine Art America:
