Here is a bearded axe that my fiance has just finished wood burning.
When it was finished we took it out into the forest and chopped it into some wood.
The axe is a commission for a friend who wanted a Thor theme with a picture of his pet dog on the handle.
You can see Thor's hammer along with an interlocking snake crawling up the handle.
The design goes all the way around the handle with some cool knots on the skinny side.
Here is a detail of Thor's hammer.
Detail of the knot on the skinny side of the handle.
Here is a cool eye above the serpent that winds around the handle.
Now for a few process shots. The design was drawn on the handle with a white pastel pencil.
Once the design was drawn on the handle white areas were wood burned as darker lines.
The first pass of wood burning just finished the outline. Later on more of the shapes were filled in with some spirals.
Thanks for checking out this cool axe :-)
