Un nuevo trabajo desarrollado por nuestro proyecto creativo Shouting Mirror está en la puerta, y aquí mostraremos parte del proceso ilustrativo de las dos imágenes unidas a esta nueva narrativa, materializar este contenido es algo que nos gusta tanto crear como compartir, así que si quieres conocer el contenido literario que hay detrás de las obras puedes dar click aquí.
Drawing and initial concept
This time the illustration had to represent two crucial scenes within the narrative, which made me work in a sequential way, with the first sketch oriented to the contemplation of the initial premise of the writing, showing in a frontal plane our protagonist and the circumstances that preceded her. The basis of the drawing was centered on a caricature style, but completely abandoning any kind of innocence in its content.
Dibujo y concepto incial
En esta ocasión la ilustración debía representar dos escenas cruciales dentro de la narración, lo que me hizo trabajar de forma secuencial, con el primer boceto orientado a la contemplación de la premisa inicial del escrito, mostrando en un plano frontal a nuestra protagonista y las circunstancias que la precedieron. La base del dibujo se centraba en un estilo caricaturesco, pero abandonando por completo cualquier tipo de inocencia en su contenido.
The second work makes more use of a perspective drawing with three vanishing points, representing the scene of the final denouement of the narrative, which proposes an almost panoramic view of the event, and perhaps this is where the living language of the new worlds is hidden at first glance.
La segunda obra se sirve más de un dibujo en perspectiva con tres puntos de fuga que representa la escena del desenlace final de la narración, que propone una visión casi panorámica del acontecimiento, y quizás ahí se esconde a primera vista el lenguaje vivo de los nuevos mundos.
Creative system
The initial illustration was worked on in Paintool SAI only, as it did not require a very complicated composition or use of space in any complex way. Unlike the second one, which does have a more detailed spatial description, it was started in Illustrator, and then transferred to Paintool SAI.
Sistema creativo
La ilustración inicial se trabajó únicamente en Paintool SAI, ya que no requería una composición muy complicada ni un uso del espacio de alguna manera compleja. A diferencia de la segunda, la cual si dispone una descripción espacial más detalla, si se empezó a componer en Illustrator, y luego se transfirió a Paintool SAI.
Both images are in tune with each other from the narrative approach, one congruent with warm colors and some pastiness in the finish to define the rustic environment, while the other, on the contrary, is built with cold colors and a more open spatiality, proposing cleaner finishes, this duality is attractive for the fundamental development of our concepts.
Ambas imágenes guardan entre sí una sintonía de contraposición desde el enfoque narrativo, una congruente con colores cálidos y cierta pastosidad en el acabado para definir lo rústico del entorno, mientras que la otra por lo contrario, se construye con colores fríos y con una espacialidad más abierta, proponiendo acabados más limpios, esta dualidad es atractiva para el desarrollo fundamental de nuestros conceptos.
Final progression
Hitting the target with the expected results is sometimes a challenge, but the encouragement, information exchange and collaboration of ideas with @ariapost is a big part of the efficient construction of the illustration process, since materializing graphic representations from a literary work will always be easier if the author himself is involved from the beginning, so thanks to @ariapost for the creative assistance.
Progresión final
Lograr dar en el blanco con los resultados esperados a veces es todo un reto, pero el estímulo, intercambio informativo y colaboración de ideas con @ariapost conforma gran parte de la construcción eficiente del proceso de ilustración, ya que materializar representaciones gráficas a partir de una obra literaria siempre resultará más sencillo si el mismísimo autor interviene desde el inicio, así que gracias a @ariapost por la asistencia creativa.
