Acrylic Painting "The Kiss" - Painting Process

The Kiss
Acrylic on round canvas
Diameter = 111cm

Working with round canvas provides a special kind of harmonious and tranquil feeling. In today's post, I will be sharing the process of painting and creating the composition structure based on sacred geometry.
This painting was actually inspired by Brancusi's statue "The Kiss", which I like. I decided to convert its outline into painting.
It is to be gifted as a wedding present to my dear friend, and was created with intention. Hope she loves it.

I worked with acrylics, little paint roller and leaves of different types of trees, which I used as a stencils throughout the whole painting process.

You can see the basic design on the next photograph. The sacred geometry grid will be used as a guidance for placing my first lines, and for deciding on leaf direction and placement later throughout the process. This grid is the reason for painting appearing so messy, but in order, in the same time.

Furthermore because of its sacred geometry base this painting should have a special kind of effect on the viewer. It is on my dear friend to witness that one.

For starters, I applied the base color on the canvas a couple of times. Then continued with lightly drawing the basic geometry grid, and the form of couple kissing. Later on, it was all about painting.

The next step is application of first leafy layers by following the basic grid which I outlined with the pencil. I kept duplicating the layers of colors until achieved the wanted effect.
