Blue Skies, Bees, Buds, and Blooms for Wednesday Walk

YES! No whining from me this week (about the weather, anyway...lol) like I did last week and the week before. Even the fact that it's unseasonably cold (I put my winter jacket on to wander the yard) and wicked windy (almost blew my tripod over at one point) the sight of the bright sun and brighter blue skies was enough to keep my from grumbling. Well, not as much anyway...lol

Oh and I actually didn't have Wednesday Walk listed for today's daily prompt for Hive Blog Posting Month. Instead for this week, I had -

Post about volunteering for Volunteer Recognition Day

However, even though I initially thought it would make a great topic for today, these past few weeks have been extra busy (especially this week, as our eldest is going in for day surgery on Friday & even a quick, minimally invasive procedure has lots of steps and things to check off the list, not to mention lots of distracting worries that moms are legally required to have about their babies, even if they're in their twenties things popping up). So the sight of the blue sky outside made it easy to decide to do a quick meander around the yard to clear my head instead.

But before I get to the meandering pictures, a quick shout out to Wednesday Walk host, @tattoodjay - be sure to hop over and take a peek at his latest, Wednesday Walk on the rocks, which I'm gonna check out shortly (and thanks @tattoodjay - now I have Neil Diamond singing in my brain! 😂 )

As for these photos, as per my usual FYI - these were taken in the yard of my Durham, NH home with my Nikon, also using my tripod. All were resized, then cleaned up a bit with PicMonkey - mostly the exposure and sharpness, but with a few other tweaks like vignette filters for the corners here and there.

Blue Skies, Bees, Buds, and Blooms for Wednesday Walk

1. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg1. Blue sky and green grass and no gray, makes for a happy Wednesday Walking day!

2. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg2. If you squint a bit, you can see some dandelions are now decorating the grass bandit mask.

3. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg3. I zoomed in on one of the dandelion blossoms, and this found this buzzing bee zooming around!

4. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg4. As much as I love my camera, there are times it just can't do justice to how things look in 3D. For example, our landlady's memorial tree was positively glowing in the sunlight. It was so striking that I took this picture, even with the not-so-pretty background (yes, the junction boxes and wires in the lower right corner are bugging me) because I figured the glowing blossoms had to do with the angle the sun was at & didn't want to change my viewpoint & lose the magic. Which is a very longwinded way of saying, this was much prettier in person! 😜

5. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg5. I think you can kind of tell how the blooms were glowing here, but this time I was focusing on another buzzing bee.

6. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg6. He was so intent on gathering pollen from the newly opened blooms that he didn't pay any attention to me or my camera that was right in his face (so to speak).

7. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg7. Whoops! Big gust of wind came by, and he almost lost his grip!

8. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg8. But again, he didn't let it deter him from his mission, and he continued on from bloom to bloom...

9. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg...even putting my camera super close (I'd say this was about an inch away from him) didn't bug him. But after getting those shots, I decided to leave him bee.

10. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg10. I meandered over to check and discovered the daffodils near our landlady's driveway are starting to bloom as well.

11. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg11. I'm hoping to get some close ups of the open blooms for next week.

12. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg12. Speaking of closeup blooms, this is one from one of the many small lilac bushes around the yard.

13. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg13. Did I mention blue sky?

14. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg14. I remembered seeing what looked to be a tiny violet when I was out with our dog Sandy yesterday afternoon, and went over to check - sure enough, not only did I find this one...

15. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg15. ....there was this tiny one right behind it.

16. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg16. At least all the rain has been good for the grass.

17. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg17. I tried for a bit to get a capture of the phoebe bird I mentioned at the end of my post from two weeks ago, but every time I spotted her, a big gust of wind came along and she'd fly to a different spot in the yard. After I lost track of her, I decided to grab a couple of shots of the tree growing out of the granite stone by our driveway.

18. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg18. There's a ton of new buds on it, even compared to just last week. Then after this shot, I decided to wander back inside the house. A few hours later, Sandy was doing his dance by the door (earlier than usual) so I ran him outside. The wind had died down a bit, and I saw Miss Phoebe hanging around near the house again, so when I brought Sandy in, I grabbed my camera, and a few minutes later...

19. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg19. ...she landed on a small tree near me (next to the bush with the red blooms in my posts from the previous two weeks) and posed for some pictures!

20. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg20. You can tell that once the wind picked up again, it really ruffled her feathers! 😂

21. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg21. She certainly enjoyed the sunshine though!

22. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg22. But the wind gusts soon proved to be more annoying than the sun was enjoyable.

23. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg23. She took one more peek at me (finally poking her head out of the shadows of the branch)...

24. Blue Skies, Bugs, Blooms, and Bees.jpg24. ... then one more blast of wind convinced her to fly off again. Here's to hoping she poses again for me soon!

Happy Wednesday Walking everyone!
